Blair was elected Leader of theLabour Party in theLeadership Election of July 1994 , following the sudden death of his predecessor, John Smith . Under his leadership, the party used the phrases "New Labour" and "New Socialism" to define its policy, and moved away from its support of State Socialism since the 1960s and created a new version of the Ethical Socialism that was last pursued byClement Attlee.Critics of Blair claim that "New Labour" did not adhere to socialism as claimed, and that it effectively advocated Capitalism However Blair has criticised capitalism for its claim that wealth would trickle down, saying that that "Today that claim seems absurd".Blair subsequently led Labour to a landslide victory in the 1997 General Election . Here is Tony,s Greatest Ever Speech.

This is a famous speech Tony made when Labour had just taken Office from the Conservatives. Tony was addressing the "Party Faithful" and it was a truely Charasmatic Speech that had all the audience in raptures. Tony is such a good Speech Master its fair to say he whipped these delegates into a Red Frenzy. Labour was on the UP and Tony was going to lead it there.

My own background is steeped in Labour Polotics . In 1985 I joined the Labour Party and beacame a member in the Esh Winning Section. After attending meetings for a year or two I was asked to respresent Labour in a Local Government Election . to serve on the Brandon and By Shottles constituency, After much canvassing and door knocking I was duly elected as a Parish Councillor for the Area. I poled 775 votes against a Liberal count of 437 and Conservative 213. I served on the Council for 4 years. At the end of those final years I got married and had other distractions in my life. Nevertheless I still have some family memners who are more into Politics than I am . My Cousin is Member for Noth West Durham. Pat Glass is my cousin from my Mothers side of my family. Pat took over from another lady in Politics Hilary Armstrong who inherited the seat from her Father Ernest Armastrong
